The Brian Rossiter Inquiry
4.
The outcome of the Inquiry
The
Brian Rossiter Inquiry began hearing sworn evidence
on Monday December 5th. The inquiry is sitting
in private and while the Rossiter family have
repeatedly called for this to be a public inquiry,
they fully respect the decision of the inquiry
chairman Mr. Hugh Hartnett. They also acknowledge
that there are certain advantages to the inquiry
sitting in private, in particular that the inquiry
should be able to proceed to a conclusion with
greater speed.
The
chairman of the inquiry has asked that no comment
be made by those involved in the inquiry that
would in any way prejudice the criminal proceedings
still pending against a man who allegedly assaulted
Brian two days prior to his arrest. For this
reason, while it is intended to provide regular
updates on progress at the inquiry and related
matters on this site, we will not be providing
details of the evidence given to the inquiry.
