What happens when a client wins a court case and is awarded a settlement and costs?

At Lynch and Partners we seek to recover as much as possible of the costs from the other party and these recovered costs are set against your total bill of costs. However, the amount recovered will generally not be sufficient to clear your entire account with us and you remain liable for any shortfall.

There may also be additional costs or disbursements, which the other side will not pay and which will have to be deducted from your settlement or award: e.g.

• A proportion of Engineer’s costs	• A proportion of Medical Report costs.
• A proportion of the Barrister costs.	• A proportion of Witness costs.

Remember also, that out of any settlement you will have to repay any other expenses, which you have incurred and remain unpaid e.g.: -

• Repay an employer for wages paid.	• Pay Taxis
• Pay Hospital/Medical Bills/V.H.I.	• Pay M.R.I. Scan
