I
was born and bred in Clonmel where my family still lives
and works. My family background in the construction industry
gave me a keen insight into the practical side of law
and its application in day-to-day business. It was a
matter of great pride that my first client was a former
employee of my fathers whom I had worked with on
one of my fathers building sites.
I studied law in UCD and went on to qualify as
a solicitor in 1981. Before going to college at
17, I worked for a few months in a local law firm
where the Principal let me loose on a litigation
file involving a dispute on a building contract.
This was the beginning of my interest in litigation.
Prior to setting up John M Lynch and Company in
my home town of Clonmel in 1983, I worked for a
time in Scotland. While I was there I worked for
an insurance company selling insurance products.
The experience of selling insurance to the Scots
and being paid on a commission basis only has stood
well to me over the years! From there I moved to
take up my first job as a qualified solicitor with
well established firm of Tom Mullaney & Sons
in Sligo where I worked in the litigation department.
Two years later in 1983 I hung out my sign in my
home town and have not looked back since.
As a country practitioner I am involved in all
areas of law. My current areas of expertise are
Family Law, Litigation and E-commerce. Over the
years I have developed my keen interest in the
law and have completed an honours Masters degree
in Litigation. I am a qualified Arbitrator holding
a fellowship from the Royal Institute of Arbitrators.
I also have an interest in European Law and E-Commerce
in which I hold Diplomas.
One of my pet hobbies is computers and I share
King Arthurs life long ambition of finding the Holy Grail. In my case however it is slightly more attainable the paperless office!! I enjoy music and any unsuspecting client who calls to the office unannounced early in the morning is likely to be treated to a blast of Berlioz or U2, depending on the file I work on. My abiding passion is my children who as any single parent will know, take up so much attention when both parents not multi-tasking. But dont
start me on that topic except to say that my interest in family law has
a lot to do with experience.
In my spare time, I am a treasurer of the Tipperary Millennium Orchestra
and chairman of the Clonmel Voluntary Housing Association.
And when I dont do that, I have been seen chasing a white ball
or more likely, sipping a nice glass of wine and dipping into a good
book.

I was educated
by the Christian Brothers in my hometown of Cashel, following which
I studied science at N.U. I. Maynooth. While there I developed an
interest in law and after completing a degree in computer science
and mathematics, I began my studies in law. I
completed a postgraduate diploma in legal studies through the University
of Wales
before being admitted to the Law Society law school.
I joined John M.
Lynch & Co. as an apprentice solicitor in 1994
and qualified as a solicitor in 1996. I became
a partner in 2001 and at that time the firm changed
its name to Lynch and Partners, Solicitors. I practice
in civil litigation, criminal law, employment law,
company and commercial law. My practice covers
all aspects of court work and advice in these areas.
I have developed a particular expertise in personal
injury litigation, with experience in the most
serious of injury cases such as fatal accidents
and brain injury.

I
am a native of Newport, Co. Tipperary. I studied
Law in Limerick University, graduating in 1996
with a degree in Law and European Studies. I
selected this particular legal qualification
because of its European dimension. It involved
extensive study of the emerging European aspect,
which is now such an integral part of our legal
system and that of every other member state.
I joined John M. Lynch and Company on graduating in 1996. When I qualified as a solicitor in 1999, I remained with the firm and have now progressed to partner status.
When I began my practice of day-to-day law in the office, it became apparent that I had an affinity with those areas that involve commercial transactions involving land, licencing, taxation and probate. In my ongoing study of law, I have recently completed a specialist qualification in the area and hold a Diploma in Property Tax.
